How to solve the problem of large cutting seams in fiber laser cutting machines

Sometimes when we use a laser cutting machine for processing, the slit (cut gap or gap) may become larger than expected, affecting the cutting quality and failing to meet production requirements. What should I do when I encounter such a problem? In this regard, the technical engineers of Chuangheng Machinery summed up three schemes.

1. Focus position adjustment

An incorrect focus position may result in a large cut slit.

Solution: Ensure that the laser beam is properly focused on the surface of the workpiece. Calibrate the focus position by adjusting the position of the focus mirror or cutting head. In general, the focal point should be located near the surface of the workpiece. Regular inspection and maintenance of the autofocus system is also very important.

2. Material problem

Some highly reflective materials may result in larger cut seams.

Solution: For reflective materials, the cutting parameters need to be adjusted to improve the interaction between the laser beam and the material. This includes increasing the power, reducing the cutting speed and adjusting the gas type. Make sure to use proper gas assistance to provide clear cutting edges.

3. Gas flow

Insufficient gas flow may cause the cut seam to become larger.

Solution: Make sure the gas system is configured correctly and use the right amount of gas flow. Clean gas nozzles and replace consumables regularly to ensure a smooth gas supply.

4. Optical component problems

Dirt or damaged optics may affect the quality of the laser beam.

The solution: Check and clean the optics regularly to make sure they are free of dirt or damage. Replace damaged parts if necessary.

5. Stability of the cutting path

Unstable cutting paths or vibrations may result in uneven cutting joints.

Solution: Check the mechanical structure of the laser cutting machine to ensure that all components are securely fastened. Calibrate and maintain machines to reduce vibration and instability.

6. Select cutting parameters

Selecting incorrect cutting parameters may result in inappropriate cutting joints.

Solution: Depending on the material type and thickness, select the appropriate cutting parameters, including power, speed and frequency. Perform a test cut to find the best combination of parameters.

If you still have problems with large cutting seams after trying the above methods, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer of the laser cutting machine or a professional technical support team for more detailed troubleshooting and repair advice.
